Chocolate Pear Pudding

  • 75 grams plain flour
  • 50 grams almond meal
  • 40 grams cocoa powder
  • 100 grams light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 150 grams butter - melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 eggs
  • 300 mls milk
  • 6 pears - ripe or 400 grams canned pears


  • Grease a 22cm square baking tin and heat the oven to 200C (180C fan)/
  • If using fresh pears, peel, quarter and slice into 1cm thickness. If using canned, slice into thirds.
  • Put the flour, almonds, cocoa powder, sugar and salt in a mixing bowl and whisk to combine.
  • Beat the eggs and milk into the melted butter, then stir this into the dry ingredients.
  • Spoon into the prepared tin and arrange the pear slices on top, sprinkle with a little extra brown sugar then transfer to the oven and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Serve with a dollop of cream or icecream.
