Grease a 22cm square baking tin and heat the oven to 200C (180C fan)/
If using fresh pears, peel, quarter and slice into 1cm thickness. If using canned, slice into thirds.
Put the flour, almonds, cocoa powder, sugar and salt in a mixing bowl and whisk to combine.
Beat the eggs and milk into the melted butter, then stir this into the dry ingredients.
Spoon into the prepared tin and arrange the pear slices on top, sprinkle with a little extra brown sugar then transfer to the oven and bake for 30 minutes.
Serve with a dollop of cream or icecream.
